Cleaning supplies can add up quickly and before you know it you are spending hundreds on much-needed items to keep your house functioning and healthy. A great way to save your budget is to shop estate sales for quality cleaning tools and organizational items at a much lower cost than a traditional store. Below are some high-quality cleaning tools you can probably find searching estate sales.Save Money on Cleaning Tools at Estate Sales

  1. Straw Brooms

An older style broom that is becoming harder to find. These brooms are great because they have strong stiff bristles that allow for better cleaning. They are made in both indoor and outdoor styles and if you happen upon one you should scoop it up. Before you use it in your own home give it a good clean with some mild dish soap and water and let dry.

  1. Floor Sweepers

An item not many people use anymore, but the floor sweeper of the 50’s and 60’s is actually quite useful. These well-made sweepers of the past work wonderfully for hard surface floor cleaning. They work well on low profile rugs as well.

  1. Certain Cleansers and Dryer Sheets

Some cleaners do not have expiration dates. So if you happen along Borax, OxiClean, Comet, Barkeepers Friend or dryer sheets, scoop them up. A cleaner in a vintage package may even be a collector’s item.

  1. Metal Dustpans

The older metal dustpans hold up much better than today’s modern plastic models. Older metal dustpans can last a lifetime so if you find one grab it.

  1. Wicker Baskets

Wicker baskets are not only strong and functional, they are more decorative and much more expensive than their plastic counterparts. Estate sales are perfect places to grab a gorgeous wicker basket at a much lower price. You may even find them made with higher quality and a more unique design you haven’t seen anywhere else.

  1. Wooden Hangers

Good quality wooden hangars are sturdy and great for hanging heavy items such as bulky winter coats. Wooden hangers also last a great deal longer than plastic ones. Though plastic hangers are cheaper in the stores it is not uncommon to find a pile of wooden hangers at an estate sale, sometimes for as low as a mere 25 cents each. If you see a pile of wooden hangers in good shape scoop them up. You can even personalize them by decorating with a little paint. It’s a great way to spruce up sturdy hangars that may look less than desirable from former use.

Having a clean home doesn’t have to cost you a fortune. So grab a newspaper and start looking for the nearest estate sales for those quality cleaning tools at great prices.
